TEKNOTROPHEO, INC. has been organized to operate exclusively for charitable, religious, educational and/or scientific purposes within the scope of Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. This corporation is a non-profit organization which has an objective to provide help and assistance to poor and needy children through implementing holistic programs on spiritual, physical, socio-economic, intellectual and other areas as needed.
“Teknotropheo” is a Greek word which means “to bring up children”. The name “teknotropheo” is a word that sums up our vision. It is our desire to reach out to poorest children in the remote rural communities through partnering with other charitable organizations and evangelical churches.
Activities
Our activities can be divided into two groups:
Health and Educational Assistance for Children
The sole purpose of our operation is to help the sick children and other people in the needy rural communities of Mindoro Island, Philippines, to help them keep in shape and in good health, and to provide the poorest kids with an opportunity to study.
Currently the mission of TEKNOTROPHEO, INC. is to reach out to the Mangyan Tribal Community of Abra de Ilog, Occidental Mindoro Island, Philippines. Mindoro Island is divided into two provinces, Oriental and Occidental Mindoro. Oriental Mindoro is the political and financial seat of the island whereas the Occidental is considered the backcountry.
The Mangyans, sparely distributed on both side of the provinces, constitute the unnoticeable minority. Survival in this fast changing society is what they are crying for; they are in search of changes and ways to make their life better. The Mangyan children are one of the poorest children in the country and are strongly discriminated by the “Tagalog” people or the lowlanders. Their parents want to send them to school and spare them from pain of discrimination; however, because of extreme poverty they can’t, and can not even afford to give them food three times a day.
TEKNOTROPHEO, INC. sees its mission in helping these kids and their communities through the following actions:
- Giving free medical consultation and medicine
- Assisting in the hospitalization of the sick children and saving their lives
- Conducting health trainings
- Implementing health projects such as a toilet project, clean water project and a small pharmacy in the community.
- Assistance will be provided either directly to people in need, or through assisting other non-profit organizations having the same mission as we have. We will invite volunteer doctors and other medical practitioners to render consultations and conduct health trainings, solicit medicine from pharmaceutical companies, and search for free medical assistance like surgery if needed over the Internet. We will also participate in short term mission trips in the place where the poor children live for visiting and encouraging them.
All the expenses associated with our program will be defrayed through charitable donations from individuals, churches and pharmaceutical companies. Our President, Criselda Malicdem, will oversee the realization of the organization’s mission.
TEKNOTROPHEO, INC. will carry out its charitable activities and implement its projects in the Philippines, particularly in the town proper of Abra de Ilog on Occidental Mindoro Island.
Currently the mission of TEKNOTROPHEO MISSIONS PHILIPPINES is “MCYDM: Mangyan Children and Youth Development Mission”. This organization is reaching out to the Mangyan Tribal Community of Abra de Ilog, Occidental Mindoro Island, Philippines. H.O.P.E. is an acronym of their ministry program strategies: H – Health; O – Out of school youth or education; P – Progressive Livelihood; E – Evangelism and Discipleship programs. The purpose and perspective of this activity is to bring up the Mangyan youth to total development physically, socially, intellectually and spiritually.
